The Rainbow casino in Bristol as closed down permanently as of Tuesday 3rd December with little warning to its customers and staff. There were rumours among the workforce that the struggling casino may close in January but senior management decided that mounting losses has forced their hand and closed with immediate effect.
The Rainbow casino was part of two such named venues, the other being in Birmingham, that casino is still operational, a notice placed on the Bristol casino said to customers: “Dear customers, we regret to inform you that Rainbow Casino is ceasing operations on Tuesday at midnight.” The casino was located on the corner of Canons Way and Millennium Square close next to the entrance to the Millennium Square underground car park, and opposite the now Lloyds Bank headquarters at Canons Marsh in the city centre.
With the closure of the Rainbow casino that just leaves one operational casino in Bristol, that being the Grosvenor casino in Anchor Road, however Bristol is allowed to have a maximum of 4 casino licenses, three of those are now not used.
