Under the new rules, any video featuring games of chance — whether involving real money or virtual items such as skins, NFTs, or cosmetic assets — will face restrictions if it refers to websites not certified by Google. This applies to uploads, livestreams, demonstrations, and even verbal mentions. Social casino content, once treated more leniently, will now also be age-restricted for users under 18, regardless of whether real money is involved.

YouTube is also strengthening oversight of realistic violent gameplay and encouraging creators to review older content, which may be reclassified or removed. No penalties will be issued during the transition, but creators are expected to comply.

Channels promoting offshore or illegal betting services, including 24-hour livestreams, will face immediate age restrictions and potential takedowns for repeated violations.

Industry experts note that these updates support broader responsible-betting efforts. They emphasize the importance of clear warnings, stronger protective tools within betting platforms, and increased transparency for content linked to financial risk.

The new measures position YouTube as part of a global shift toward stricter digital regulation, aiming to reduce minors’ exposure to gambling and violent content and create a safer online environment.
