Crypto Ban or Casino Funnel? Telecom’s Intercept Page Sparks Outrage

DITO Telecom, one of the Philippines' major carriers, has sparked a firestorm within the crypto and iGaming industries.

Users attempting to access restricted crypto exchanges reported being redirected to a landing page that, instead of a standard error, actively promotes a list of "Legitimate Betting Platforms."

Strategic Redirection or Technical Flaw?

The block page features a prominent red warning alongside a directory of PAGCOR-licensed online casinos. Notably, the page displays official logos from PAGCOR, the NTC, and the CICC. This has led many to believe that the redirection is not a mistake, but a coordinated effort to funnel high-risk capital toward state-sanctioned gambling channels.

Reclassifying Crypto as Gambling Risk

By labeling crypto trading as an "illegal gambling risk," the government appears to be attempting to recapture uncontrollable capital flows and redirect them into the taxed and regulated iGaming sector. As official agencies remain silent, the debate over whether this is public protection or revenue redistribution continues to intensify.
