Google has announced an update to its Gambling and Games advertising policy, with the new certification eligibility requirements set to take effect on September 14, 2026.
The updated policy expands the certification standards introduced earlier this year to all gambling and gaming advertising categories. Going forward, advertisers applying for certification must demonstrate good policy health, reinforcing Google’s efforts to improve compliance across gambling-related advertising.
In addition, Google will apply stricter measures to Manager Accounts (MCCs). MCCs with repeated online gambling certificate revocations—or those managing accounts that repeatedly violate gambling advertising policies while using a certificate—may lose eligibility to apply for new online gambling certifications. Existing certifications may also be revoked.
Google also reiterated several domain requirements for certification applications, including:
- Websites hosted on free subdomains are not eligible.
- Advertisers must directly own and control the certified domain.
- Domains unrelated to gambling or gaming activities are not eligible for certification.
- The updated certification requirements will officially take effect on September 14, 2026, highlighting Google’s continued focus on policy compliance and responsible gambling advertising across its advertising ecosystem.
