On September 9, GAT Expo Puerto Rico 2026 will present a comprehensive agenda of conferences and panels focused on regulation, innovation and market evolution, alongside a trade show featuring local and international brands in a networking environment specifically designed for the gaming industry of the Caribbean and the Americas.

San Juan, Puerto Rico, September 3, 2026. GAT Events is finalizing preparations for its second edition in San Juan, which will take place on Wednesday, September 9, at The Condado Plaza Hotel.

One of the central pillars of the event will be GAT Talks, the academic agenda bringing together authorities, regulators, operators, suppliers and experts to analyze the current state of Puerto Rico’s gaming and betting industry and identify the challenges and opportunities shaping this historic moment in its evolution.

The official opening ceremony will be led by Attorney Juan Carlos Santaella, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission, and José Aníbal Aguirre, CEO of GAT Events, who will welcome attendees alongside senior officials from the regulatory authority and special guests.

Puerto Rico: From Today’s Market to Tomorrow’s Industry

The GAT Talks program will begin with the conference “Puerto Rico: From Today’s Market to Tomorrow’s Industry,” presented by Attorney Juan Carlos Santaella, who will share the Gaming Commission’s perspective on the evolution of the market and the current conditions supporting the development of the sector on the island. Puerto Rico comprises 78 municipalities whose citizens are responding positively to innovative regulatory initiatives covering route gaming machines, fantasy contests, land-based casinos, horse racing and sports betting—activities deeply rooted in Puerto Rican culture.

Next, Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) will present the conference “Puerto Rico: Leading the Evolution of Regulated Gaming in the Caribbean,” led by Attorney José Carlos Figueroa, Regional Manager for the Caribbean. The session will examine Puerto Rico’s positioning within the region’s regulated gaming ecosystem and the essential role of laboratory certification in ensuring quality and transparency as new games enter and operate in the market.

The program will continue with the panel “The Next Move: Innovation, Regulation and the Future in Puerto Rico,” led by the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission, the island’s highest gaming regulatory authority. The discussion will be moderated by Attorney Alexandra Fuertes, current Director of Legal Counsel at the Commission, and will feature Attorney Lorraine Irizarry, Director of the Gaming Bureau.

This dialogue among industry experts will provide an opportunity to explore the key regulatory and responsible gaming challenges arising from innovation, technology and the transformation of the market toward a sustainable future.

Experience, Product and Industry Outlook

The afternoon program on Wednesday, September 9, will feature Attorney Jaime Rivera, former Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission and partner at Saiber LLC, who will share his experience, knowledge and perspective on the current state and expectations of the local market.

Following this session, Amusnet will deliver a Master Class on slot product analysis, presented by Daniel Arias, Amusnet Director for the Caribbean, Colombia and Central America. The session will bring a specialized product perspective to GAT Talks, examining the evolution of market offerings and key variables for optimizing machine performance and business profitability. It will also provide tools for understanding player behavior and achieving a strategic balance between player experience, gaming volume and profitability.

The academic program will conclude with an analysis titled “The DNA of Gaming in Puerto Rico: A Retrospective and a Sustainable Future,” featuring María Cristina Mari García, Senior Vice President of Hipódromo Camarero; Lorna Huertas, advisor to the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission and former Assistant Secretary of the Lottery Bureau; and Jaime Alex Irizarry, Director of Operations at Royal Gaming Logistics. The panel will also include representatives from the land-based casino and sports betting segments and will be moderated by José Aníbal Aguirre, CEO of GAT Events.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of the exhibition will take place at 10:00 a.m. at The Condado Plaza Hotel, on the second level, showcasing an innovative range of products, technologies, services and solutions for the diverse gaming verticals operating in Puerto Rico.

Global brands such as Novomatic and Aristocrat Gaming have also joined as sponsors, while Gamanza and Mobadoo complete the roster.

“The combination of a specialized trade show, a high-level conference and panel agenda closely connected to the realities of the jurisdiction, and the participation of major local and international stakeholders allows us to say that GAT Expo Puerto Rico will be an event that generates knowledge, new business opportunities and partnerships for all participants, while also promoting greater integration and unity within the local industry.
