Poland’s online Gaming market showed renewed momentum during the week of September 14–20, with industry data indicating a 20.6% week-on-week increase in user interest.
The rebound came after several weeks of weaker activity following the introduction of new payment restrictions at the beginning of September.
According to Blask’s weekly market data, the latest increase coincided with a major domestic football weekend, highlighting how sporting events can influence short-term Gaming market activity.
Football weekend drives renewed interest
The ninth matchday of Poland’s PKO BP Ekstraklasa took place between September 18 and 20, featuring several high-profile and high-scoring matches.
Blask identified the league weekend as the main fresh market signal during the period, with user interest increasing 20.6% week-on-week.
Importantly, the figure reflects changes in online user interest measured through search activity, rather than Gaming revenue or transaction volume.
The data illustrates how major sporting events can continue to influence digital Gaming demand even as the market adapts to changes in payment infrastructure.
Payment controls reshape the market
The rebound follows the introduction of new payment controls in Poland.
Since September 1, BLIK has implemented a mechanism designed to block payments connected with domains appearing on the Polish Ministry of Finance’s register of unauthorized Gaming websites.
The measure represented an important development in Poland’s approach to payment-based market supervision and placed payment providers more directly within the country's compliance framework.
During the previous reporting period, Poland recorded a 24.8% decline in online Gaming interest, with BLIK's payment restrictions remaining one of the major developments affecting the market.
Market continues to adjust
The latest rebound does not necessarily indicate that the longer-term impact of the payment restrictions has disappeared.
Instead, the data demonstrates how payment controls, major sporting events and user demand can interact to create significant short-term movements in online Gaming activity.
As Poland continues strengthening payment-based supervision of its digital Gaming market, future data will provide a clearer picture of how the market adapts over a longer period.
For operators and payment service providers, the development also highlights the growing connection between payment infrastructure, regulatory compliance and market activity across regulated European Gaming markets.
